The DX70 SureCross Wireless Network is a wireless sensing solution delivers an affordable, dedicated wireless industrial I/O system, providing directly mapped I/O using a Gateway and Node based on a point-to-point topology.
Two kits are available: One kit equipped with four discrete and two analogue inputs and outputs. The second kit has eight discrete only inputs and four outputs for the Node and the inverse for the Gateway. Both kits have a ‘link loss’ output that indicates communication status. This specific feature allows configuration ofthe input and output default conditions, utilising the internal DIP switches, in the event that the communication link between Node and Gateway is lost.
There are models that include an internal or external antenna. The DX70 also offers two-way RX/TX communications with full wireless acknowledgement and easy installation, making it a cost-effective, simple to implement solution for remote I/O applications orplant environments where conduit and wiring are impractical. This is especially relevant when renovating or upgrading existing installations.
A Node on the DX70 network can be easily deployed and is usedto gather information that is concentrated at the gateway system controller, which can be located up to three kilometres away (line of sight). The actual workable distance between Node and Gateway can be influenced by environmental conditions or by obstacles such as trees, hills, walls or machine parts. The choice of a different antenna can increase signal quality and improve significantly range and performance. Every DX70 has a very easy to read signal strength evaluation tool builtin on both Node and Gateway. The wireless system uses the 2,4GHz frequency band and is certified to the relevant European standards. DX70 uses a Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) protocol to ensure reliable and secure data communication. In simple terms, FHSS means that rather than using one single frequency, the device is spreadingits packages of information across several frequencies according to atable that is embedded in the Node and Gateway. Not only will this improve the reliability when interference would block the transmission on one frequency, it also makes it almost impossible for someone to ‘listen in’ to the Node & Gateway transmission.
In addition, the system offers an enhanced security feature called ‘binding’. This linksa Node to a Gateway by its unique serial number, to minimise any possible noise or interference caused by other wireless products. This means that practically up to 32 Network ID’s (configured by a rotary switch) can be operated in the same area.
DX70 Gateway and Node modules are self-contained in a rugged industrial, IP67 enclosure to deliver affordable, performant monitoring and control capabilities in challenging environments. There are many applications in Factory or Process Automation that can be solved with the system, like remote I/O dataacquisition, record traceability information, transmission of I/O information from rotary tables, liquid level detection in tanks, remote monitoring of towers or tank farms, loading dock occupancy monitoring, water treatment clarifier monitoring and temperature storage control or monitoring. In addition to new projects, the SureCross Wireless system is suited for refurbishing or upgrading of existing installations.
