The Simatic TDC multiprocessor automation system is suited for large plants in process engineering, power generation and drives. The CP50M1communications processor offers high-speed data exchange with equidistant message frame transmission via Profibus DP. Programming is carriedout with Simatic standard tools. The D7 SYS add-on software allows routing to all Simatic products. The 19" mounting rack accommodates up to 20 TDC CPUs and integrates the CPU backup batteries. It is shieldedagainst electromagnetic interference (EMI), suitable for wall-mountingand cabinet-mounting, and has an integral power supply with active cooling and internal monitors. The TDC solves complex drive, closed-loopcontrol and technology tasks with very large quantity structures andshort cycle times from 100 microseconds. The system is modular with scalable hardware. Application areas are in metal production and metalworking, high-voltage DC transmission systems, and reactive power compensation systems for stabilizing power transmission. The system is alsosuitable for atypical applications such as the automation of large platform systems.
