Cooperation between ABB and Phoenix Contact
|
ABB Automation and Phoenix Contact signed a contract about a longterm strategic cooperation concerning Profinet- and Ethernet-Technology. The intention of this partnership is to strengthen the position and to develop Profinet as a global industrial standard within the complementary business areas Process Automation (ABB) and Factory Automation (Phoenix Contact). In this partnership Phoenix Contact-subsidiary KW-Software will take responsibility
for the technical integration of the Profinet-Technology. "This frame agreement is an important milestone for ABB. With Phoenix Contact as a partner we expect excellent opportunities to meet current and future customers requirements of coupling intelligent field devices", says Peter Wendt, chief R&D officer Control Products of ABB

Flir Systems to acquire Cedip Infrared Systems
|
Flir Systems, Inc. announced today that it has entered into an agreement to acquire a controlling interest in Cedip Infrared Systems, a leading provider of infrared cameras and stabilized gimbaled systems based in Croissy- Beaubourg, France. Upon closing of the transaction, Cedip's infrared camera operations will be integrated into FLIR's Thermography Division. Pepperl+Fuchs supplies to one of the largest fieldbus projects
|
Pepperl+Fuchs provides FieldConnex fieldbus infrastructure to Rabigh Integrated Refining and Petrochemical Complex, one of the largest fieldbus projects in the world. They have been selected as the main FOUNDATION fieldbus supplier to Yokogawa and the global EPC for this prestigious project. Pepperl+Fuchs will offer its fully redundant Power Hub system with Advanced Diagnostic Module (ADM). The implementation of FieldConnex will result in the highest possible availability of the fieldbus system and long-term OPEX savings. Pepperl+Fuchs will also provide equipment on the field side, namely Segment Protectors. These smart wiring blocks protect the fieldbus segment and thus plant operation from short circuits. Live-working on field instruments is permitted without hot work permit, netting in superior plant availability.

Sartorius inaugurates new plant in China
|

The laboratory and industrial equipment provider Sartorius started up operations at its new plant at its Beijing location. Sartorius has now doubled its production capacity in China from roughly 4,000 square meters to more than 8,000 square meters. The investment volume for the new plant site is approx. ten million euros. In his address, Executive Board Chairman Dr. Joachim Kreuzburg pointed out that thanks to its long-standing presence in China Sartorius had gained high brand awareness and enjoys a strong market position with customers from the pharmaceutical, chemical and food industries. In China, Sartorius manufactures lab balances and selected product lines of its industrial weighing equipment, for instance, platform scales, checkweighers and truck scales. The new plant is intended to supply the Chinese and further Asian markets. It is located in the Tianzhu Airport Industrial Zone in the direct vicinity of the Beijing International Airport.

Saudi Basic Industries Corporation purchases GE Plastics
|
Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) announced the completion of its purchase of GE Plastics from General Electric. The announcement was made by SABIC Chairman, HH Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thenayan Al-Saud. The former GE unit is now SABIC Innovative Plastics. "We are very pleased to confirm the completion of this acquisition", said Prince Saud. "This acquisition will significantly broaden SABIC’s plastics product portfolio and provide access to new global markets. The people, products and technologies of SABIC Innovative Plastics bring a
