The ComFu radio system facilitates data transmission from sensors which are installed in inaccessible or mobile measuring points in safe orhazardous areas. It uses the IEEE 802.15.4-based ZigBee standard to set Personal Area Networks, allowing terminals and routers to communicate locally. In the open field, the system bridges a maximum distance of400m. It can be integrated into the Protos process analysis system. The simplest network consists of two hardware components: a radio receiver/transmitter ComFu E on the sensor side and the network coordinatorComFu C connected to a Protos FIU digital module via its RS485 interface. The radio receivers are battery-powered allowing a flexible installation. All data is encrypted according to the 128 Bit AES standard, malfunctions and failures are recognized and reported. Exchangeable analog modules enable users to easily switch between measured quantities. The system supports intelligent sensors such as ISM and InduCon. These systems recognize sensor parameters and allow for the use of precalibrated sensors.
