Many of the world’s largest plastic film producers choose the TSM extrusion control solution, the company says. TSM offers gravimetric blenders integrated with extrusion control allowing continuously monitor and control extruder throughput. The blenders can also be used to specify the desired weight-per-length to optimise yield. The system also provides roll, order and shift summaries by component to give precise calculation of material cost and profit margin per customer order. TSM says the system offers several exclusive features: the material is mounted directly on the extruder. The extrusion control eliminates height problems and the expense of a secondary weigh hopper. Adaptive controland monitoring software controls the extruder screw speed or line speed. TSM’s algorithms provide automatic compensation for bulk density variations, including regrind, allowing material to be extruded at the lowest set points. Additionally the system can respond instantly to changes in haul-off speed or execute new set point entries via a TSM ‘start up’ software routine.
